NBA Teams Are Greater Than AIDS for World AIDS Day
On Dec. 1, World AIDS Day, Greater Than AIDS is teaming up with NBA Cares as part of a broader partnership to mobilize NBA fans and teams around HIV/AIDS. Nine NBA teams are promoting HIV messages at their home games on World AIDS Day by showing World AIDS Day jumbotron videos, distributing thousands of cheer cards branded with team colors and Greater Than AIDS messaging, and encouraging their ushers and announcers to wear Greater Than AIDS buttons. Six of these teams are partnering with local departments of health to distribute HIV prevention information to fans at tables in the arena concourses.
The teams participating include the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Hornets, and the San Antonio Spurs.
NBA All Stars Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Al Horford (Atlanta Hawks) are also helping to get out the word this World AIDS Day. Watch Al on CNN International Sat. 12/1 at noon ET and 5:30pm ET. And look out for an interview with Russell on NBA TV Game Time at 7 pm ET.
